Left-handed duo offer Masters value

Phil Mickelson

This year’s Masters tournament promises to be one of the most entertaining we’ve seen in years and at least half of the field will believe they could be wearing the Green Jacket on Sunday.

Augusta seems to suit certain golfers, especially those who have enjoyed success there in the past, and a couple of former winners look to be available at very healthy prices going in to this week’s event.

Bubba Watson (12/1 in the Outright Betting) is a two-time Masters champion and heads to Georgia having rediscovered his top form in recent weeks.

The man from Florida took the title at the Genesis Open in February – carding three sub-70 rounds – before going on to win the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament last month.

Watson (22/1 First Round Leader) is likely to flourish in what is a stellar three-ball over the first two rounds, with the left-hander paired with two top-15 golfers – Henrik Stenson and Jason Day.

Phil Mickelson is one of the few players in the field to hold more Green Jackets than Bubba, with Lefty looking to secure a fourth title at Augusta.

The 47-year-old (7/2 Top Five Finish) has an incredible record at The Masters, with 12 other top-10 finishes and has missed the cut just twice in 25 appearances in the year’s first Major.

Mickelson has already secured a title on Tour this year – the WGC-Mexico Championship – and has recorded another three top-five finish since the start of 2018.

The veteran is ranked third in the ‘Birdie Average’ stats this season and you can expect Mickelson to be firing at the flags this week, as he looks to hold off the challenge of the young guns.

Among the younger hopefuls are Justin Thomas (21/2), who is currently top of the FedEx Cup standings, Spain’s Jon Rahm (22/1) and the 33/4 favourite and 2015 champions Jordan Spieth.
