Wenger to enjoy trip to Palace

Arsene Wenger

Arsenal can bring Crystal Palace’s eight-game unbeaten run to an end by recording a narrow victory at Selhurst Park on Thursday.

Both teams have been used to drawing recently, with the Gunners drawing three of their last four including Friday’s six-goal thriller against Liverpool, while Palace have drawn three of their last five.

Arsenal have only won twice on their travels in nine away encounters so far this term but are good enough to edge to a win by a one-goal margin at odds of 53/20.

Arsene Wenger’s side lost 3-0 to the Eagles last term but a repeat of that score line seems very unlikely and a 2-1 victory for the visitors looks good value at 8/1 with an Arsenal win and both teams scoring in the game available at 39/20.

After going down in their first seven top-flight matches of the campaign, Palace have only lost one of their last 10 and are now 4/1 to be relegated this season.

Roy Hodgson has managed to galvanise a Palace squad that had enough quality to steer clear of the bottom three and in Wilfried Zaha he has a potential match-winner.

Zaha is 41/20 to score at any time against Arsenal while Christian Benteke, who is available again after serving a one-game suspension, is 23/4 to score the first goal.

Arsenal have only won one of their five Premier League fixtures in December but it may be worth backing them at 39/20 to keep a clean sheet against Palace who, despite their recent upturn, find goals hard to come by and have only found the net 16 times in the first half of the season.
