Wolves to pile the pressure on Newcastle

Nuno Espirito Santo

Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Newcastle United to Molineux on Monday evening and the hosts look good value to land a fourth successive Premier League win.

Wolves to win @ 5/7

Wolves are on a tremendous run of form heading into the contest, having won their last three league matches against Leicester City, West Ham United and Everton to climb to seventh in the standings.

Nuno Espirito’s Santo’s men are also on a four-game winning run at home in all competitions although they will have to break their Monday hoodoo, having lost all four of their Premier League games played on that day.

Newcastle have taken just one away point from the last 12 on offer – losing to Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur – whilst they have recorded just two away league wins from 12 this season.

Rafael Benitez could hand record signing Miguel Almiron, who arrived from Atlanta United on January’s deadline-day for around £20million, a debut and he could be worth a punt at 15/4 to score anytime.

Wolves could achieve the league double over Newcastle for the first time since 1991-92 although the Magpies are unbeaten in their past four away games against the Black Country outfit in all competitions.

Fabian Schar to score anytime @ 14/1

Switzerland international Schar is joint-second on Newcastle’s scoring charts this season with three goals and the defender showed his prowess in front of goal in the 2-0 win over Cardiff on January 19.

Five of the Magpies’ 21 goals have come from set-pieces this season and with Benitez starting with three centre-backs over recent weeks, backing 27-year-old Schar to net anytime looks to provide some good value.

Raul Jimenez to score first @ 9/2

Mexican forward Jimenez has been in good form over the past couple of weeks and he was the star man in Wolves’ comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham when bagging a brace.

The 27-year-old tops the club’s scoring charts with nine strikes and he would become just the second player from his country to reach double figures in a Premier League campaign if he nets on Monday, emulating Javier Hernandez.

Jimenez has scored the first goal three times this season and looks a shout at 9/2 to net first in Monday’s game.
