Palace to suffer St Mary’s heartache

Roy Hodgson

Fatigue could be a factor when Crystal Palace attempt to ease their relegation woes by beating Southampton at St Mary’s on Tuesday.

The game takes place only two days after the Eagles held Manchester City to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park and, as a result, it may be worthwhile betting on Saints at 1/1 to end their eight-match winless streak by defeating Roy Hodgson’s team.

Southampton impressed when holding Manchester United to a goalless draw at Old Trafford on Saturday evening and they are 25/4 to clinch a 1-0 victory against Palace.

There are signs that West Brom are improving under Alan Pardew and, although they have not won a Premier League match since August, they have drawn six of their last 10 matches, including Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

West Ham would have expected to take more than one point from games against Newcastle United and Bournemouth over the festive period and David Moyes will be concerned that his side conceded three times in each of those matches.

Albion can win at the London Stadium at odds of 16/5 and finally bring their 19-match winless run to an end.

The remaining two top-flight games on Tuesday should result in routine victories for Tottenham at Swansea and Manchester City against Watford.

Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne picked up injuries at Selhurst Park but City are good enough even without that talented duo to defeat an inconsistent Watford team that contrived to lose at home to Swansea on Saturday.

City are 11/2 to win the match from behind while Spurs will be keen to beat a Swans side that they could only draw 0-0 with at Wembley in September.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are 4/5 to keep a clean sheet at the Liberty Stadium and 21/4 to beat Swansea 2-0.
