Jesus to inspire City on Tyneside

The cliché is that the busy festive period is amongst the most important spells of the season and more wins for Manchester City could all but end the Premier League title race.

Newcastle United are their opponents on Wednesday and the Magpies will be buoyed by their 3-2 win last weekend, while they have a habit of raising their game against the big boys.

They are a very tempting 12/1 to claim a first home win since October and Christian Atsu is a man who will need to be in form if they are to pounce.

The Ghanaian was excellent on Saturday, netting the winner, and is 6/1 to score at anytime.

It is the visitors who are the massive favourites though and their run of 17 straight wins is a Premier League record.

After thumping Bournemouth 4-0 on Saturday, more of the same will be expected at St James’, where they have not lost this decade.

Sergio Aguero may have grabbed a brace against the Cherries but Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy means it is likely to be Gabriel Jesus’ turn on Wednesday.

The Brazilian has fired 12 goals in total for club and country this term and arguably adds more from a teamwork point of view than Aguero.

He is priced at 47/20 to break the deadlock and is sure to be a thorn in the side of Newcastle’s defence.

Wednesday’s game will not be easy for City though, despite the perceived difference between the teams on paper.

Expect the Magpies to put up a fight following their recent win and it could be a case of a City victory but with both to score 7/5.
