Monday’s game between Arsenal and Newcastle rounds off another excellent weekend of Premier League action and everything points to a successful night for the hosts.
A win for the Gunners would make it 10 on the bounce at home in the league and slowly but surely it appears Unai Emery is turning things around at the Emirates.
Arsenal to win and both to score @ 8/5
Finishing in the top four would be a remarkable achievement in Emery’s first season and his side are also through to the last eight of the Europa League.
Home comforts have been crucial to their recent rise and they welcome a Newcastle team to who have not won any of their last seven away from Tyneside.
There is a peculiar quirk that has followed the Gunners though, alternating between conceding and keeping clean sheets in their last six on their own patch and there are reasons to think Newcastle can get a goal.
Rondon to score at Anytime @ 3/1
The main reason has to be the form of the brilliant Salomon Rondon.
It is still to be decided whether the 29-year-old’s loan from West Brom will be made permanent but he has scored in his last two games for the club, while also netting for Venezuela in their 3-1 win over Argentina.
Rondon’s physical presence will scare the Gunners’ defence and look for him to shine.
Over 3.5 goals @ 6/4
That does not mean Arsenal should unduly worry though, especially considering they have won on the last six occasions these two have met in the capital.
Scoring three or more in five of their last 10 on their patch is also a handy tally and Emery may again go with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in attack.
In that case, looks for goals, especially with Rondon also around.
