Sunday sees two more Premier League fixtures, both of which could be tasty encounters.
The early game is between Everton and Arsenal and both will be eyeing the points after poor results last week.
They did, though, have the chance to make amends in the Europa League and, while Arsenal’s second string sealed a battling 1-0 win over Red Star Belgrade, the Toffees produced another poor performance in their 2-1 defeat to Lyon.
Ronald Koeman’s future at the club seems to be firmly in the balance and there is a feeling a defeat on Sunday could be the final straw for the Dutchman at Goodison.
Arsenal’s fragility has added to more questions over Arsene Wenger’s approach but he will have watched Everton on Thursday and probably laughed.
Then at 4pm there is, on paper at least, the game of the weekend as Tottenham welcome Liverpool to Wembley. Both sides enjoyed strong European results and will see this as a chance to prove their top four credentials.
Spurs drew 1-1 at Real Madrid and, more importantly, beat Bournemouth last week to finally get off the mark at their temporary home. Liverpool disposed of a dismal Maribor 7-0 – a record away win for an English team in the Champions League.
It means confidence will be high amongst both camps but with plenty to play for, it could be cagey and they may produce a fairly underwhelming game, something that’s becoming fairly typical between the big teams in the Premier League.
Liverpool have been draw specialists of late – they have been held in half of their Premier League games so far this season – and therefore a repeat of the 1-1 draw these two played out last term could be on the cards at 29/4, with the draw overall a very tempting 5/2.
