The end of the busy festive period is nigh but there are still some potential Christmas crackers, most notably on Wednesday when Arsenal welcome Chelsea.
Neither has enjoyed the smoothest of campaigns to date but while the Gunners continue to be plagued by inconsistency, the Blues seem to be finding their form at just the right time.
Arsene Wenger’s men were sluggish in drawing 1-1 at West Brom on Sunday and despite being unlucky with the penalty decision that went against them, never really did enough to justify a victory.
Chelsea, in contrast, breezed past Stoke 5-0 and Antonio Conte will feel he owes Wenger one, having lost 3-0 at the Emirates last term, as well as 2-1 in the FA Cup final.
In fact, it was that defeat in N7 that persuaded the Italian to implement his favoured three at the back formation. Ironically, the Gunners now favour that shape, meaning the teams are likely to cancel each other out somewhat.
This is where the visitors’ extra class could pay off and Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata’s attacking partnership appears to be developing with every game, while Alexandre Lacazette is also looking sharp at the moment, albeit without finding the net too often.
It means both to score is likely at 20/33 but it just feels as if Chelsea will be too good for ailing Arsenal.
