There’s a full round of La Liga fixtures this week and the headline act on Tuesday evening has to be resurgent Real Madrid at Espanyol.
Although not as coolly received at the RCDE Stadium as they are down the road, Los Periquitos will by no means give Los Blancos a comfortable ride in Catalonia.
Real are predictably short at 20/41 so look elsewhere for value. The ‘BBC’ were back in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Alaves and with them likely to be in full flow again, another case of over 3.5 goals is 13/10.
Two games catch the eye on Wednesday including an Andalusian derby between Malaga and Sevilla.
Both need the points for opposing reasons and despite Malaga sitting adrift at the bottom, local pride and Sevilla’s recent mixed defending make this tough to call.
However, they have a history of high-scoring games, with over 2.5 goals in eight out of their last 10 meetings at La Rosaleda and that outcome stands out at 20/21.
There’s also what looks set to be a real dingdong at San Mames where Athletic Bilbao entertain Valencia.
Los Leones have been underwhelming this season but are unbeaten in their last seven at home while Marcelino’s men have won their last three.
Bilbao’s fans have been on their back in recent weeks and it could be another frustrating night against a good Valencia side, with the draw looking the likeliest outcome at 11/5.
The highlight on Thursday is undoubtedly Barcelona’s trip to Las Palmas. Described by one commentator, perhaps unkindly, as “warm weather training”, it should be a straightforward affair for the Blaugrana.
A routine 3-0 win was the order of the day in October’s meeting at the Nou Camp and more of the same is likely. With Barca keeping clean sheets in two of their last three on the road, the away win to zero is 11/10.
At the same time, Alaves look good to beat Levante, especially having seen the visitors outplayed in Monday’s 2-0 home defeat to Real Betis.
El Glorioso have won five of their last six at home, the other result being a draw, and four of those victories have come with clean sheets.
Despite being crushed at the Bernabeu on Saturday, Abelardo is a defensive master and another win to zero looks good at 33/20.
