Giroud could be in mood

The Champions League may well be the pinnacle of global football but the Europa League is arguably more entertaining, with Thursday’s games promising plenty of excitement.

First things first and it is likely to be a case of contrasting evenings for the English clubs. Arsenal are in action and should continue their perfect start at home to Crvena Zvezda.

With the home win so short, look elsewhere for value, most obviously the goal markets where the match winner in Belgrade, Olivier Giroud, is 3/1 to open the scoring.

However, earlier on in the evening, Everton, who let’s face it are currently a total shambles, face a Lyon side who can tear anyone apart given the chance.

The fact the Toffees will present plenty of opportunities for such antics means Les Gones will thrive and their short price for the victory suggests looking at other options.

Nabil Fekir scored first at Goodison and his price of 4/1 to repeat the trick jumps out.

Looking elsewhere, Istanbul Basaksehir’s 9/4 to beat Hoffenheim is one of those prices that deserves a rush to the wallet.

The Turks are bottom of their group but, like local rivals Besiktas, are a bit of a rogue’s gallery who love to upset the odds. Die Kraichgauer have lost their last three in all competitions and their form suggests a real upset is an option.

Another bet worth a shot is the 33/10 on offer for Vitoria de Guimaraes to get revenge against Marseille. Les Phoceens claimed a scrappy 2-1 win at the Stade Velodrome but could fall short on the road.

Last but not least for value hunters is Zorya Luhansk’s 9/2 to win away at Hertha Berlin. The Ukrainians won last month’s meeting 2-1 and, at that price, are almost too good to ignore.
