Chelsea can brush dire Everton aside

Chelsea, Hazard

A much-changed Chelsea side can ease the pressure on Antonio Conte by defeating managerless Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Italian has already revealed that he will field a much-changed side for the fourth-round clash against a Toffees team that will be overseen by David Unsworth following Ronald Koeman’s departure on Monday.

Chelsea have lost to Manchester City and Crystal Palace recently and had to come from behind to draw 3-3 with AS Roma in the Champions League before beating Watford 4-2 on Saturday after also trailing 2-1 to the Hornets at one stage.

Michy Batshuayi is one player that can benefit from Conte’s rotation policy and is 11/4 to score the first goal against Everton after netting twice against Watford as well as grabbing a hat-trick in the 5-1 third-round Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest.

After conceding so many goals recently, Conte’s side are 6/5 to keep a rare clean sheet against Everton, while the odds on both teams scoring in the match are 5/6.

Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 in the Premier League in August and a repeat of that scoreline on Wednesday can be backed at 13/2.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is also under pressure following the grim 3-0 home loss to Brighton last Friday.

It will be extremely difficult for the Hammers to return to winning ways at Wembley on Wednesday, even though Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is sure to rest a host of first-team regulars as his side face Manchester United in a crunch game at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

A routine Spurs victory is available at 10/21 while, in the expected absence of Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente is good value at 59/20 to score the first goal in the London derby.
