Liverpool and Manchester City will meet in the Community Shield for the first time at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men got the better of Liverpool last season as they won the Premier League title by a single point.
Liverpool managed to bounce back from that disappointment by claiming the Champions League and the two teams will no doubt go close again this season.
When comparing the two teams, it is pretty clear to see that City have enjoyed a better pre-season campaign and have also spent more cash during the transfer window.
Atletico Madrid ace Rodri has moved to Manchester and looks set to add some steel to the City midfield.
It came as a huge shock to see these two play out a goalless draw when they met in October 2018. However, City handed Liverpool their only defeat of the campaign when they won 2-1 in January.
Goals should be expected in London this weekend, with both teams getting one final chance to experiment before the season gets under way on August 9.
Both have found the net with ease during their pre-season matches and Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola have the majority of their first-team players fit and ready.
Argentina international Sergio Aguero is fit and ready to start Sunday’s game and any fan of the beautiful game knows how dangerous he can be. He is set to lead the line, with Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling just behind him.
City goalkeeper Ederson will miss out alongside midfielder Fernandinho, with Bravo and Rodri set to fill in.
Liverpool will be without forward Sadio Mane as he prepares to return to training on Monday following Senegal’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Goalkeeper Alisson plus forward pair Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah returned to training earlier in the week, while Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri have both passed fitness tests.
