Villa can cut Blades down to size

Aston Villa can add to Sheffield United’s recent poor run by beating Chris Wilder’s free-falling Blades team on Saturday evening.

United have only taken one point from their last five games and, although Villa have stuttered themselves of late, a victory for Steve Bruce’s side by a one-goal margin appears to be good value at 5/2.

Sunderland moved out of the relegation zone after securing a 1-0 victory last weekend against Fulham – a first win at the Stadium of Light for the Black Cats in 2017.

Chris Coleman’s side can make it two home wins in a week by defeating a Birmingham team that have scored only four away goals this term. Odds of 8/1 on Sunderland winning 2-0 appear tempting.

On Friday draw specialists Brentford are the visitors to Norwich and it could be advantageous to seek out odds of 27/4 on it being a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

Barnsley have failed to win any of their last seven matches and are 31/4 to lose 2-1 at Fulham, while Cardiff may have to settle for a point at Bolton, with both teams to score in the match available at 16/5.

Table-topping Wolves can extend their unbeaten run to nine games by defeating Ipswich 2-0 at 21/4, while Derby County are 13/10 to keep a clean sheet against a Millwall team that have not won on their travels this term.

Improving Leeds United are 10/11 to beat Hull City, while Nottingham Forest can hold Preston to a draw, available at 51/20, at Deepdale.

QPR can benefit from Bristol City’s midweek Carabao Cup clash against Manchester United by beating the Robins at odds of 9/5 while Reading are 25/4 to triumph against Burton Albion 2-0.

Finally a draw at 11/5 seems the most likely option in the mid-table clash at Hillsborough between Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.
