Rowett’s Rams to batter Blues

Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett should enjoy his return to St Andrew’s when his in-form Derby County side visit Birmingham City.

It is just over a year since the Blues unwisely axed Rowett when they were challenging for a Championship play-off spot.

They ended up avoiding relegation on the final day of last season and, despite a recent revival under Steve Cotterill, remain in danger of going down to League One.

The Rams, who are unbeaten in their last seven Championship matches, are 13/10 to beat Birmingham and 29/4 to win from behind. Last season the Rams were 2-1 winners in the fixture.

On Friday, Sheffield United can take the Steel City derby spoils when they face Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder’s side have only clinched one victory in their last nine Championship matches and are 23/10 to beat the Owls by a one-goal margin.

Cardiff should return to winning ways after a four-match losing run by beating Sunderland, with a 2-0 victory for the Bluebirds available at 27/4, while Wolves are 20/29 to beat Barnsley at Oakwell.

Bolton, who have won three of their last four Championship fixtures, are 16/5 to draw at Brentford while Norwich are 33/4 to edge to a 1-0 triumph against Bristol City.

Goals could be in short supply at the Pirelli Stadium when Burton Albion host QPR so the odds on there being under 1.5 should be taken up at 17/10.

Hull and Reading are both in poor form so a draw at 49/20 appears to be good value while a 1-1 draw at Portman Road in the game between Ipswich and Leeds is available at 11/2.

A Middlesbrough win and both teams to score in their game against Fulham is available at 59/20 while a draw in the match between Millwall and Preston is available at 21/10.

Nottingham Forest will come back down to earth following their FA Cup victory against Arsenal when they take on Aston Villa, who are 6/4 to win at the City Ground.
