Rams and Owls to do the business

The Championship is back this weekend and the two TV games could prove the perfect advert for this most unpredictable of divisions.

Following the distractions of the international break, a trip to Derby might not be on everyone’s priority list, but that’s exactly what faces equally unfashionable Hull on Friday evening.

Both were tipped as promotion candidates from the outset and currently sit on seven points apiece.

The 1/1 Rams did some interesting business over the summer although they seem to lack spark as Gary Rowett searches for his best XI.

Hull boss Leonid Slutsky must have spent much of the summer scratching his head given his own club’s transfer dealings.

However, some late signings, and perhaps just as importantly, keeping the likes of Kamil Grosicki means they now look pretty healthy and are 59/20 to triumph.

A draw is 12/5 but with these sides at different ends of the entertainment spectrum, the hosts are likely to keep things tight and maybe a Derby win to zero at 39/20 could be the bet.

On Saturday evening, Nottingham Forest make their way up the M1 to take on Sheffield Wednesday.

A generation ago this would have been a solid Premier League fixture and after years in the doldrums, these clubs seem to be back on the right path.

Carlos Carvahal’s transfer business may have been underwhelming in the summer but he is a good coach and his team are rightly the 10/11 favourites.

Forest also have a maestro in the dugout in Mark Warburton, who has pulled out some eye-catching results already this term.

An away win is 33/10, with the draw 49/20, but this one could be an open game and a Wednesday win with both sides scoring appears the way to go at 14/5.
