Fulham on form, but Boro and Preston could strike

The business end of the Championship season is upon us and although Wolves and Cardiff seem to be streaking away, there is plenty to be resolved behind.

Nuno Santo’s men have been the pacesetters throughout the campaign, with their decision to spend big contributing to their six-point lead over Cardiff. The Bluebirds have done things differently, with Neil Warnock’s nous seeing them keep pace throughout and are in stunning form, winning their last seven, while they also have a game in hand.

Behind though is a lottery. Fulham were the form team but spurned a 2-0 lead to only draw with Queens Park Rangers before the international break. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side though have a habit of starting slowly before ending the season well and it could be their year.

The Cottagers are 13/10 to be promoted and have a decent fixture schedule with Sunderland and Birmingham their final matches before a likely play-off push.

Fulham are the favourites of the also-rans but Aston Villa could be a tough nut to crack if they rediscover their momentum. Villa have lost their last two, an issue that has seen them drift to 2/1.

Speaking of form and Middlesbrough are coming good, with Tony Pulis installing the type of consistency that was lacking under Garry Monk. No defeats in six makes them extremely tempting at 4/1 to be promoted and Pulis is sure to be firing into his players to ensure they do not suffer any setbacks.

Derby are currently fifth but seem to be falling away and of those who could make a run, Preston stand out. Alex Neil’s men have a habit of grinding out results and having been there or thereabouts in recent years, 18/1 could be the value bet in the market.
