The pace just doesn’t let up in the Championship and there is sure to be more drama on the agenda this weekend.
It all gets underway in Friday night with two games, one of which involves arguably the trickiest journey in the division, as Cardiff take on Norwich.
This being a cross-country affair is perhaps apt for a game that is likely to be more attritional than exciting. It’s also a shame for the Canaries that their time on the road is unlikely to be rewarded and having not been beaten at home this season in the Championship, a Bluebirds win at 20/21 seems sensible.
Two of the division’s giants also meet on Friday as Leeds host Aston Villa. Both won 2-0 at the weekend and this is likely to be close. As a result is too tough to call, so both to score entices at 10/11.
Looking at Saturday’s three o’clock games, both local and personal pride is at stake when Gary Rowett’s Derby welcome Nigel Clough’s Burton. Both managers previously coached their opposition and may well be keen to settle old scores.
A surprise midweek defeat to Ipswich has temporarily derailed the Rams but at 5/12 they should have no issues against the Brewers, who have not won in three.
Elsewhere and bottom club Bolton’s 6/4 could be the price of the weekend when they take on Barnsley, who are slowly drifting towards the relegation zone.
Saturday’s late match sees a clash between play-off hopefuls Bristol City and Middlesbrough. The Robins came from two down to win 3-2 at Hull on Saturday, while Boro’s inconsistency continues to frustrate, losing 3-0 at home to Derby last time out.
This is a game that could go either way but City have been streaky this season and often win in gluts so the home victory tempts at 6/4.
Finally on Monday, there’s a West Midlands derby between Birmingham and Wolves. These two clubs seem to be heading in opposite directions and it would be almost foolish not to back the away win at 10/13.
