Juventus out to derail Barcelona express

Two of Europe’s superpowers clash on Matchday Five of the Champions League when Juventus face Barcelona, with the Italians in need of a result.

These two were expected to make light work of Group D, and while both are on course to qualify, a determined Sporting Lisbon side are just three points behind second-placed Juve.

With the Portuguese fancied at 1/2 to beat Olympiakos on the same night, Juventus could do with avoiding defeat to an in-form Barca.

Barcelona have won 11 out of 12 in La Liga, scoring 33 goals along the way, but somehow failed to find the back of the net against Olympiakos last time out in Europe.

Juve will also hope to frustrate Lionel Messi and Co but have struggled for clean sheets recently.

The Italians did blank Barcelona the last time they visited Turin, winning 3-0 in April, before the Blaugrana won by the same scoreline in their meeting on Matchday One.

With Juventus having not lost at home in 25 European matches, the draw and both teams to score at 33/10 make sense for this tasty encounter.

Elsewhere, Manchester United should have far too much for Basel when they travel to Switzerland.

The Red Devils have all but booked their last-16 place but even with little to play for they look good value at 1/1, especially if Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic feature after making their comebacks at the weekend.

In the same group, CSKA Moscow can give hapless Benfica the cold shoulder at 23/20 when they make the trip to Russia.

Benfica have lost four out of four, including a 5-0 hammering at Basel, and are unlikely to fancy it in Moscow, with the temperature set to be a chilly -4 Celsius at kick-off.

Finally, Roma look good to take something from their visit to Atletico Madrid, who are struggling to get their new house in order.

The last four matches at the Estadio Metropolitano have ended in draws and the in-form Italians can claim at least a point from the Spanish capital, coming in to the match off the back of a derby win over Lazio.

Atleti have found goals hard to come and have yet to win in the Champions League this season. That record is unlikely to change with the draw 49/20, while those brave enough might be tempted to back a Roma win at 7/2.
