Chelsea the Champions League team to beat

478

Any team that can win at Atletico Madrid must be considered among the Champions League contenders, with Chelsea falling into that category.

After winning the Premier League title last term, Antonio Conte seems to have made European success his main target in 2017-18 and the Blues can be backed at 14/1 to lift the trophy in May.

Chelsea face second-placed Roma next Wednesday (Match Betting – Chelsea 2/3, Draw 14/5, Roma 17/4) at Stamford Bridge and a win would put them on the brink of qualification.

Another team with two wins out of two are Paris Saint-Germain, who also look like serious contenders this term, mainly due to their amazing firepower.

The Ligue 1 league leaders (5/1 – Champions League winners) have scored eight goals in their opening two Group B games and the way they disposed of Bayern Munich suggests they will cause any team problems.

With the additions of Neymar (14/1 – Top CL Goalscorer) and Dani Alves, they have players who have lifted the trophy before and that experience could prove crucial to PSG’s hopes.

Barcelona’s faultless start indicates that, although they’re not as strong as previous campaigns, the Catalan giants are intent on making up for last season’s quarter-final nightmare against Juventus.

Jose Mourinho’s European record makes Manchester United a good price outside bet, at 11/1, to lift the trophy in Kiev, while United’s local rivals Man City, also with two wins out of two, are available at 9/1.

We’ve not even mentioned the current champions, Real Madrid, who are looking for a third successive European title. Although not at their best this term, they cannot be ruled out – highlighted by their win at Borussia Dortmund.

Real are currently 4/25 to win Group H, which also includes Tottenham – who are 4/27 to qualify.
