Barcelona can prove their class when they head to Manchester United on Wednesday night, while we’ve also got tips for Ajax v Juventus.
Manchester United scraped through the last round of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain but they look to have met their match in the shape of Barcelona.
United were well beaten by the French at Old Trafford but managed to complete an historic victory on aggregate by winning the second leg 3-1.
While no small feat, it should be remembered PSG were a shadow of themselves, while United also scored with three of the four shots they took, the last one being from a controversially-awarded penalty.
Barcelona, unbeaten in 16, look another level up and with Lionel Messi in excellent form (he has scored in his last six games; nine goals in total) this is likely to be another tough night.
Injuries aren’t helping the hosts with Eric Bailly, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sanchez missing, Ander Herrera “probably out” and Nemanja Matic and Marcus Rashford both doubtful.
Barcelona to beat Man Utd ‘to zero’ @ 13/5
The defensive midfield area looks a particular worry, one Messi always drifts into – expect him to exploit that weakness.
Barca look perfectly fair at 21/20 but a way to enhance their odds to 13/5 is to back them to nil ‘to zero’ given they’ve kept seven clean sheets in their last 12.
Nemanja Matic to be carded @ 41/20
If Matic does start, then 41/20 about him picking up a card is tempting. The Serbian, booked in five of his last seven games, has come under fire for the speed (or lack of it) in his game and he could really struggle to deal with Messi.
Both teams to score in Ajax v Juventus @ 4/5
In the night’s other quarter-final between Ajax and Juventus, both teams to score looks the best bet. With 17 goals in his last 21 games, Dusan Tadic is enjoying a fantastic season but the team as a whole showed how well it can play when winning 4-1 at Real Madrid.
With Juve’s star defender Giorgio Chiellini set to miss out due to injury – potential replacement Andrea Barzagli is also out – Ajax can cause problems.
At the other end, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return which makes Juve highly likely to score.
Dusan Tadic over 0.5 shots on target @ 10/11
Tadic having at least one shot on target also looks a solid play at 10/11. He’s managed two on target in four of his last five Champions League matches, including away to Real and at home to Bayern Munich, and will carry Ajax’s greatest goal threat.
