The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations comes to a conclusion on Friday night at the Cairo International Stadium as Senegal take on Algeria in Egypt’s capital.
Djamel Belmadi’s Algeria have been very impressive throughout the tournament and they currently top the scoring charts, having found the back of the net 12 times from their six matches.
Led by captain Riyad Mahrez, who has three goals to his name, the Desert Foxes won all three group matches without conceding a goal before dispatching Guinea, the Ivory Coast and Nigeria in the knockout rounds.
Algeria will also have the mental edge heading into the contest, having defeated Senegal 1-0 in the group, and the 1990 champions are undefeated in the last five meetings – winning four and drawing one.
Although Algeria have been free-scoring in the tournament, they come up against a Senegal side that have kept four consecutive clean sheets since that 1-0 defeat against Belmadi’s men.
The Lions of Teranga have based their success upon a strong defensive line, having won all three knockout games 1-0, but they will be without Napoli centre-back and inspirational figure Kalidou Koulibaly due to suspension.
Two of the past three meetings between the pair have ended with a 1-0 scoreline and another low-scoring affair is expected come Friday evening in Cairo.
Manchester City winger Mahrez has been the heartbeat of Algeria’s side throughout the tournament and two of his three goals have come in the knockout stage, having bagged against Guinea and Nigeria.
The 28-year-old, who has 13 goals for his country from 52 caps, has been a constant threat during matches and he looks ready to keep his impressive form going in Friday’s spectacle.
Liverpool star Mane has been integral to Senegal’s run to the final, having scored three of his country’s eight goals. The 27-year-old is the main threat in his side and he looks a big price at 21/10 to score anytime.
The forward has maintain his good goalscoring form from the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, in which he scored 22 league goals, and he looks to be his team’s best chance of finding the back of the net.
