England face final Gayle assault

England face a huge test as they try to close out a series win when they take on West Indies in the fifth and final one-day international at Gros Islet.

The tourists lead 2-1 after four matches which have seen batsman totally in charge and bowlers struggling to find a way to stop the ball disappearing to all parts.

West Indies to win fifth ODI @ 33/20

The hosts will find it hard to believe that they are behind in the series, having seemed certain to win the fourth ODI before a late collapse saw them fall short of a victory target of 419, which amazingly looked within their grasp.

They are sure to be desperate to put on a big display and end a series which has seen them emerge as a team to watch at the World Cup later this year.

Most match sixes, West Indies @ 5/6

The amount of sixes hit in this series has been truly mind-boggling, with 46 maximums alone recorded in the fourth one-dayer on Wednesday.

England offer slightly more value at 20/23 in this market and certainly have plenty of firepower, however, with Chris Gayle seemingly clearing the ropes for fun, it is the hosts who appear to more likely to head the way.

Top home batsman, Chris Gayle @ 51/20

Gayle’s return to the Windies’ one-day fold could hardly have gone better, as the powerhouse left-hander has made mincemeat of the England attack.

He has smashed two centuries and a fifty in three innings, making 347 runs off 289 balls faced, with no fewer than 30 of those deliveries smashed for six.

Unless England find a new way to unsettle the self-titled ‘Universe Boss’, they are in for another difficult day against one of the greatest-ever one-day batsmen.
