Villa experience to signal PL return

The Championship play-off final takes places at Wembley today and I’m backing a grizzled old Aston Villa team to get the better of precocious Fulham.

Villa 23/10 To Win in 90 Minutes

After 49 games, it all comes down to this for these sides and the Cottagers will be buoyed by coming from behind to defeat Derby in the semi-finals.

Youngster Ryan Sessegnon was the star that night and will be keen to shine against Ahmed Elmohamady, who looks set to win his fitness race.

The Egyptian is part of an experienced back four alongside James Chester, John Terry and Alan Hutton and having kept Middlesbrough out over two legs, they will fancy themselves to do the same today.

Fulham won the most recent meeting between the pair 2-0 but Villa have hit their stride and in boss Steve Bruce, have a man who knows who to win promotion.

The 57-year-old has guided teams to the Premier League four times, twice through the play-offs.

In what is likely to be a cagey affair, I think Villa’s experience can see them through.

GSW 19/4 to win by 10-13

Our switch to basketball has served us well this week and I think Golden State can force a showdown against Houston in their Western Conference Final.

The Rockets head to California leading 3-2 and have impressed, coming from behind twice heading into the final quarter to win.

It is do or die for the Warriors and although they lost 95-92 in Game 4 at the Oracle Arena, they won 126-85 on home court last Sunday.

Another win by that margin is unlikely, especially with the GSW’s big guns failing to produce their best at the moment, while Andre Iguodala’s likely absence is again an issue.

However, I still think they can thrive on home court and force what should be a thrilling decider on Monday in Houston.
