Daily Tips – Blues to end Saints Cup march

Chelsea and Southampton battle it out in today’s second FA Cup semi-final and it is unlikely to be as clear-cut a result as it appears on paper.

The Blues gained some much needed confidence in the week as they beat Burnley 2-1 and will feel this competition owes them having lost in last year’s final.

Today’s game offers Saints some respite from their relegation struggles and they can afford to play with a bit of extra freedom.

Mark Hughes’ side let a two-goal lead slip when these two met last weekend and I think it will be a similarly entertaining affair at Wembley.

All things considered, I am backing another Chelsea win and both to score at 39/20.

My other pick is a Girona win at home to Espanyol with the Montilivi doing Pablo Machin’s side plenty of good this season.

They may have lost last time out at home to Real Betis but that was their first defeat in front of their fans since December and they won on Thursday at Alaves.

Espanyol are winless in five, not finding the net in that run and even a Catalan derby is unlikely to rouse them.

1/1 is a handy price for the home win and those looking for something more may try and go one better by backing the Girona victory to zero at 19/10.
