Daily Tip – City to brush aside Basel

Pep Guardiola

Basel were the surprise package of the Champions League group stages but it is hard to see them getting any joy out of Manchester City in Switzerland this evening.

Basel claimed wins over Benfica and Manchester United on home soil earlier in the competition but City are a different proposition.

The Swiss side have recently returned to action after their winter break and have won one and lost one since.

City have won eight of their last 10 in all competitions and warmed up for their Champions League assignment with a 5-1 thrashing of Leicester at the weekend.

The visitors are the 10/31 favourites and if they can get an early lead they may try and kill the tie off in the first leg.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in sensational scoring form, with 17 goals in their last six games.

A City success with a -1 handicap looks a solid call at 5/6 and the -2 handicap is an option for anyone feeling a little braver at 43/20.

Raheem Sterling is a contender for the first goal of the match at 21/4 after his strike against the Foxes over the weekend while a 4-0 win for City appeals in the exact score market at 13/1.
