Angel to soar at Epsom

166

Epsom takes centre stage for racing today, and, while the Oaks is the feature, the Surrey Stakes could be fantastic and Angel’s Hideaway looks one to beat.

Angel’s Hideaway to win @ 5/2

Just a length and a half was her deficit as she ran home fourth in the 1000 Guineas and with Hermosa going on to back it up in last week’s Irish equivalent, that defeat was far from shameful.

Considering her form, this trip to Epsom looks to come at the right time for John Gosden’s charge and it’s good to see her continue with Robert Havlin on board.

Charlie Appleby’s Space Blues leads the market at the time of writing but last year’s Keeneland Stakes hero will take some beating in the 5:15.

Old Persian to win @ 10/3

Appleby could get some consolation earlier in the day with the in-form Old Persian going in the 15:10.

A drop back in trip clearly benefitted the four-year-old in her two wins in Dubai and connections will be hoping for more of the magic he showed at Meydan.

James Boyle takes the reins and holds a horse with class, demonstrated by a win at Royal Ascot last summer.

Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore have high hopes with Kew Gardens but Old Persian is the one for me.
